July 19th

Everyone had different thoughts running through their minds when we all arrived at Logan Airport.
Trevor: “When my aunt dropped me off and while I was getting my ticket and checking my luggage, which I have never done alone before, I felt like I was in a limbo.”
After Jabbar talked to our families, they were far more relaxed then when they arrived, and although they would miss us terribly, the pride they had for us far outweighed their worry.
While waiting at the gate, we recorded our initial thoughts, with Matias’ camera, which never leaves his side. He snapped some photos and then after a short wait, we were on our way to our first stop, JFK Airport in New York.

The plane ride from Boston to New York felt like it was basically a take off and a landing. It was very short with a lot of crying babies. Our layover was longer than the plane ride itself.
At JFK, the group got together and had lunch at Chili’s. After a nice meal and long conversation, we prepared ourselves for the longest flight any one of us has ever taken.
After a five hour layover and an hour and a half takeoff delay, we were finally embarking on our ten and a half hour voyage. We recorded our last thoughts on American soil and we were off.
